Report #001 | 29TH JANUARY2021
Project General Overview
The yacht is currently located in an enclosed construction shed at the La Spezia, Sanlorenzo facility. The yacht is well supported by cell blocks and side supports. Currently the yacht is surrounded by a complex set of scaffolding construction to allow the on-going work(s).
The hull and superstructure are bonded and are as one, with an explosive bonding or trials-clad strip at the junction of the steel-aluminium joint. Fairing works are in good progress in many areas.
The yacht is moving toward a level of hot works completion, meaning that the metal works, both steel and aluminium are almost at the stage of finalisation. All and any works relating to the cutting, forming and manipulation of these metals should in all respect be finished, and thus calling for a milestone payment. This includes all anticipated welding.
The builder has been working hard to achieve this stage as essentially it brings them closer in-line to the agreed General Arrangement as outlined by the contract. Modifications have been made, some significant in terms of work to achieve this. Upper deck quarters have been modified to accommodate the eventual placement of the submarine. Additional structural supports added to further reinforce the addition of the swimming pool. Also, alterations have been made to the main deck saloon aft. area door and both quarters. All of these modifications appear to be in line with the best marine building practices.
Exterior and Structure
Forward Crane
The second crane (as per GA) has been installed along with it respective structural support, seen under the deck plates in a spider-web type configuration with doubler insert.
Upper Deck Quarters
Essentially the after-most section has been modified to allow for the intended position of the submarine on the main deck area next to the main saloon doors. The builder has had to remove the inner transversal section, and modify both of the outer quarters as well as increase the structural properties.
Internal Structural Supports:
As previously mentioned, these supports are needed to accommodate the extra forces generated by adding the swimming pool and it’s ancillary components (pumps and pipes etc.)
Main Saloon Door
Now spanning the full house structure beam width, the door has been modified. This has also been designed to provide enough additional supporting force to account for a portion of the additional weight of the pool, which is located above it. Particular attention needs to be paid to this feature as the build progresses as it’s liable to be susceptible to considerable forces when the pool is full. This may prove to hinder the doors operational characteristics from personal experience.
Sun Deck Partial Enclosure
The support and framing are almost completed. These will provide the frame area for the considerable glass enclosure on the sun deck area, and also provide a means of isolation from the stairwells leading to and from the sun deck area, port and starboard sides.
Interior
Flooring Supports are well underway. Technical areas, with fixed flooring are for the most part completed, with the guest area floating floors becoming well advanced in their respective areas installation.
Wheelhouse
The wheelhouse is well advanced, with a completed floating floor section, with minor panel laying still needed. The side fire protection and insulation material are almost completed.
Lower deck Cabins
Flooring areas mostly completed. The hull insulation material is installed, save a few minor areas that will utilised at a later stage of the construction, this is normal. Much of the overhead cable trays are being installed, as such with other piping systems and ducting.
Underfloor piping system are well advanced, as they lead mainly to tank tops. They will be properly terminated at a later stage of outfitting.
Main Galley and Crew Dinning Area
This construction section, forward of the lower deck guest cabins has most of overall fire protection/noise insulation installed. The grade of material here is higher due to perceived increased risk of fire, so the material is a higher rated type to withstand a high heat threshold and contain any type of fire for a longer period of time, as outlined in classification standards, in this case ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) commercial regulations.
Crew Areas Lower Deck
As per the majority of the vessel, the flooring and insulation is mostly completed. Here we can see the internal partitioning making steady progress. The primary stage carpentry and cabin/area divisions are moving ahead well and with a good quality of installation.

Also, currently under review are the Appliances Selection Process along with the Navigation and Communication sections. There will be some questions and information requests from our side soon, to allow us to better understand any special requests or needs of the client so we can raise any requests or modification at this stage and not leave them to the end where will struggle to get anything modified. This is also the case for any other special requests or needs in regards to security arrangements. The yard has indicated a request for fingerprint access control in guest areas, which is currently being studied from their side. Any information that can be shared with us now will only serve to get a better result for the client in the end.
