Report #002 | 26TH FEBRUARY 2021
Project General Overview
No changes made to location or overall conditions of the yacht.
Production continues at the Yard’s pace and discretion.
The work generally appears to be of a good standard. Regular management meetings continue to take place and daily construction/production team meetings are held with the on-site production manager.
UNDERWATER Sections
Hot works have continued on certain sections of the hull. These are minor works and mostly related to the installation of the underwater lights in the stern section of the yacht. Several standing pipes have been added and through hull fittings inserted. These have undergone dye penetrant testing and are anticipated to presented to the classification society ABS at the beginning next month.
In addition to that, the process of the propulsion alignment has begun on the port side. Once completed, the same will be carried out on the starboard side. The supports you see are temporary and will be removed, the temporary welds ground back and the sections primed and painted on completion.
Lower Deck
Most of the works have been conducted in the lower deck technical areas, mainly the tank spaces and piping works. Welding and various hot works continues at pace.
The engine room is coming together slowly. The main engines are seated on their respective foundations and are well protected with wooden top plate covers and plastic wraps to keep them protected during the ongoing equipment installations and other works.
The general intension is to have the larger machinery installed slightly ahead of schedule, main power generators and air condition main chiller plant, some exhaust sections, to enable the closure of the soft construction patches early. This will help advance the production team and allow them to proceed ahead on other main deck areas working concurrently.
The gym, starboard side bottom hinging shell door frame is installed. The works are ongoing now to install the lower hinge flange sections. The same process is also happening with the transom or stern door.
Main Deck
Many of the weatherproof bulwark doors and hatches have been installed. Nearly all of the structural weathertight doors are also installed (on all decks). Openings to access the internal areas and accommodation spaces.
The main deck opening hatches locked on the aft deck are also in position although not yet installed. That is for the crane compartment, port side and also the main stairwell leading down to the gym area.
The polished stainless steel main side deck bulwark stanchions have been located. The open sections will be now covered to prevent material contamination from occurring.
The starboard side forward owners cabin has undergone and nearly complete the GA modifications for the balcony.
The various structural components have been removed.
The overhead sections are still requiring work, but the intension is to complete these and begin the installation and material isolation of the main balcony frame next month.
Isoclima, the Yacht’s appointed glass manufacturer, is due to arrive on-site next week to scan and then generate templates for all the Yacht’s glass.
The main aluminium partitions designed to house the passenger lift are beginning to take form. The partial enclosures can be seen on all decks being served by the lift.
In the aft. parts of the main saloon, the portion that is directly above the engine room section (directly below), anti-vibration and sound insulating tile are fully laid and now covered by the lattice that forms the floating flooring.
Final modifications are also being made for the structural components for the main deck Electrical sliding door arrangement.
Upper Deck
The floating floor is almost complete in all areas, save the area around the passenger lift. Work is well underway with the internal and external overhead scupper system. The majority of the pipe sections are in place and have been welded.
In the coming weeks, the pipes will undergo pressure testing and where can see the unpainted, welded sections, these welds will be ground back and the piping systems primed and repainted.
Mooring Deck Forward
Work continues in this area with the installation and structural reinforcements with the second additional crane, starboard side.
The female collar and mounting sheath are installed and the outer welding sections have been finished, the inner part requires the reinstallation of the deck plate.
Again, all these hot works will be inspected by ABS in the coming weeks and x-ray’s taken where necessary.
Sun Deck
The structural modification is completed for the window/glass surrounds.
The aluminium supports have been faired and the applicator is using a wet-type build formula to make the shapes needed that will eventually form the mullions.
The forward and side sections are almost completed.
