Report #007 July 30th 2020

GENERAL UPDATE

On the last two weeks, the Yacht has steadily progressed in the outfitting stages, with several areas of focus and notes.

The classification Society (ABS) have been in attendance on a regular basis, with the primary focus of system sign off, in order to allow the Yacht to reach a level of completion (safety aspects) in order to proceed on the shipyard first sea trial.

In order for this to happen, such ABS requirements as functional:

Fire Suppression System, Steering System, Navigation System, Fire Detection System, Watertight Doors closing arrangements tested etc. All of these and more need to be satisfied in order to proceed away on this first sea trial. We have not seen completion of all of these test criteria, and therefore the Yacht remains currently alongside (03/08/2020).

The exact timing keeps shifting on a daily basis from the shipyard communications - having spoken to the team installing the bridge equipment, they could be as much as a week away from completing the install to a level acceptable to ABS, in order to proceed on sea trials. We believe this is probably going to be the constraining factor at present. All other works will be able to be held for a day to achieve this. So, we could anticipate their trials towards the end of this week, beginning of next.

Once this is accomplished, we should have better indication of just how far behind they are with the remaining components parts of the construction process.

EXTERIOR

Jacuzzi Glass:

This has been installed along with the first fitting of the teak surround.

Tender garages (both), bulkhead and deck-head panelling installation:

Work continues in the beach club area/main tender area. Also, in the forward rescue crane technical space.

Teak Deck Panels on Beach Club Doors:

The teak work has been laid, and is around 90% completed for the doors and hatches (steering gear).

Teak deck initial sanding and caulking repairs:

A good deal of progress is being made in this area, most laid areas have been sanded and minor repairs to caulking and seem joints is well underway.

Exterior Deck Head Structure and Panelling:

Secondary outfitting has been done to main deck aft, upper deck aft and pool bar (sun deck) areas.

Paintwork:

The yard has undertaken a series of repairs to the paint. Area around the main door frames (beach club) as well as polishing has been carried out. It is not possible at this stage to confirm the repairs as successful or not. Some areas remain working progress or are covered.

INTERIOR

Bridge Flooring:

Has been laid and covered/protected. The helm chairs are not yet installed.

Laundry Equipment install:

The washing machines and dryers have been installed in the laundry area.

Gym Equipment:

The beach club area has seen the primary installation of the wall mounted frame for the gym equipment.

Dining Table:

The main saloon dining table is being installed.

Owner/Guest Mattresses onboard:

These are in place and are protected from ongoing works.

ENGINEERING

Bridge Wiring:

Steady with the progress towards cabling and general AVIT and Navigation equipment installation.

Crew Mess Monitoring:

Monitoring stations installed, final testing and system integration is not yet done. AVIT general installation has progressed also.

SAT Dome Installation:

Linked of course with the bridge and general AVIT installation, cabling is run and is being connected. This is likely of course to be removed or altered at some stage in the new future with the VSAT modifications and TVRO equipment removal.

Engine room deck plates – initial fit-up:

The aluminium deck plates are being installed and final re-working is currently underway.

Main Engine Pre-Trials Check and Start-up:

The technicians from MTU have been onboard working in conjunction with the yard personnel. All appears to be good with the installation, however we are awaiting the yard’s reports and any follow-up actions needed, to be transmitted to us.

Areas of note

The External Glass Sections:

We have written to the yard two weeks ago and raised concerns about the quality of the external glass. Estimation is around 80% of the glass has been affected by some form of contaminate. The yard has confirmed that the supplier will come onboard for a professional polishing of the external part of the glass between the 10th and the 14th August 2020. The intervention will take approximately 5 days.

Guest Bathroom Marble:

A similar path is running in regard to the guest areas marble sinks. We have noted cracks forming in the corners (due mainly to design). Having squared off edges and corners is causing micro-cracks to form. This is without any form of vibration transmission and without any weight having been applied during normal use. We are asking the yard for their intention on this matter. Awaiting a reply.
