Report #003 May 29th 2020
GENERAL UPDATE:
PAINT:
The paint report has been completed, there are certain parts of the paint that we did not accept. Subsequently, we have gone against the shipyard to get these rectified. The shipyard were very strong in their response and demanded that the defects be moved to be covered under warranty. We absolutely disagreed that this is in the best interest of the client or the Yacht and the defects should be done now, while the Yacht is in the perfect environment to be able to get the most optimal finish. We found the shipyard reluctant to agree with our recommendation, so we referred the matter to Amanda Thirsk, Simpson Marine and Tony Allen for leverage at a financial and legal level which thankfully the shipyard responded to.
As a result, they are now going to fix the required defects over the course of the next few weeks with a new tentative launch date of 22nd June 2020.

Exterior:
In short, the Yacht’s exterior has undergone its paint application to the majority of its external areas, with the exception of appendages, some door frames and minor parts, most of which can be painted prior to installing onboard. In addition to the white exterior parts of the hull and structure, the jet black mullions on the main deck and accent lines have been completed (with comments) as has the main deck aft black sections and overheads (again with comments).
The metallic black roll bar or sun deck area structure are undergoing polishing as per request to remove some over-spray issues. This should be ready for inspection next week.
The mast has been painted and will be fitted over the weekend (paint process notwithstanding).
The now painted owner’s stateroom windows are now installed, drive mechanisms are not yet functional.
The underwater sections of the Yacht have had their protective paint added. The black anti-fouling paint appears to have been applied well, with a good layered amount of paint present. The shaft lines, cutlass bearings, p-brackets, propellers and rudders are all in excellent order. Main sea chest protection grill and bow thruster protection grill are not yet installed, but will be prior to launching. Zinc anodes can be seen in place as per the supplied and plan.
Work has also started on the forward area pool. Some tiles have been added and the toughened glass rear facing panel is now onboard and awaiting installation.
The fixed and movable hand rail sections are being installed in all areas. The glass panels separating the upper sections of the rail and the Yacht’s lower supports have been installed in 80% of the Yacht’s areas. Main deck and upper deck side catwalks are installed and also have their upper structural supports in place.
Currently the Yacht is surrounded by the scaffolding and sections of painting tents, where the yard are working to rectify some of the paint issues we have highlighted. Work will continue in this respect.
Interior:
As you will see from the attached pictures, the progress is moving ahead at considerable speed. We should be particularly mindful of this speed as we cannot let the yard substitute speed for quality. None the less, the final stage carpentry is coming together well, it is difficult to see the smaller sections as they generally are immediately removed to then allow work access to remain. The interior areas will obviously remain working progress.
The galley installation is almost finished, with the exception of some minor detailing and overhead panelling adjustments.
The crew quarters is coming towards completion. The crew mess area is as completed as it could be at this stage, less the table and chairs that would restrict movement onboard. The cabins are mostly complete with the bathrooms and heads still needing some installations such as facets and heads. The enclosed air conditioning units and return air plenums are for the most part well installed.
Work continues in the forward most cabin due to modification on request to allow easier access to the emergency escape are forward and port side (overhead) to the main deck.
engineering:
The main engine exhausts have now been installed. The overboard and underwater sections are in place. The installation is very tight indeed, but there is nothing we can do about it as the space between the exhaust run and the front end of the generators is restricted. The yard have made adjustments at our request as much as possible, but the access will remain difficult, even though these modifications have been done.
The generator exhaust cleaning system has been partially installed. Sitting on top of the generators, the vertical height is tight for fitting. We will only know how to access the areas once the installation is completed and the insulation fitted. These units will be removed and adjusted as required to make the best installation and use of space that we have available.
Work continues under the beach club area. The yard making many modifications to the various pieces of equipment and systems installation as per our construction log and comments. As discussed earlier, the majority of the points are regarding the use of space available and the access to that equipment for regular maintenance and serviceability requirements.
The shore power transformer has been put in place but not yet secured in place or connected. We are in discussions with the yard to ensure that this is the correct model for the Yacht’s intended usage requirements.
General Yacht systems, such as fresh water, air conditioning, sewage systems - all show steady progress with their installation. The yard is working through the construction log at the same time as the on-going installation continues.
Access at present to the forward technical areas, the mooring deck and the rescue tender area show no real change as they are for the most part complete, save the surveyor remarks which will be actioned at some point prior to delivery.
