Tenders
25th May 2020
Scope of Survey:
Motor Yacht Kamalaya was attended by the undersigned surveyor at 1430 hours on the 25th May 2020. The work scope is outlined as a followup survey of the Yachts two forward tenders, as detailed previously.
In Summary:
Both Tenders have undergone some defect rectification works during the past days since last visited as well as dye penetration testing of the port side cradle only.
Port Side Tender:
The Pascoe (rescue) tender was found in the water secured alongside the Yacht, on the mooring whips. The tender was clean and tidy with all the various fenders, covers, cushions and attachments present.
No works have been executed on the hull section. The hull remains in the previously documented condition. (Please refer to earlier issued report).
The damaged or defective fittings, seat covers and cushion retaining clips have been replaced for new.
The battery terminals have their respective protective boot covers fitted.
Minor gel coat repairs have been carried out.
The turbo charger cover has been aligned and reinstalled.
The drive coupling has had the surface corrosion cleaned and treated.
Please see the below photographs.
Port Side Cradle:
The deck cradle has been removed and sent ashore for dye penetration testing. Please find the attached reports from Clever Synergy dated 22/5/20 & 13/5/2020 which were commissioned by the seller. The report suggests that the cradle has no cracks or major defects noted. The crew has finished the repainting of the exterior surfaces of the cradle.
Please see the below photographs.
Starboard Side Tender:
The starboard side tender has also undergone a series of works,
Replacement of battery boots
Cleaning up of the minor GRP defects.
The hairline cracks from the last port on the swim platform have not been addressed. Its assumed that no distructive, or non distructive tests have been preformed nor any corrective measures.
The hull mounted sea water intake scoop has been replaced and sections of the hull have been primed and re-anti fouled. Its clearly noted the entire hull has not been repainted, we were not advised as to why this was not completed.
The tender was inspected on the forward deck sat in it’s respective cradle.
Please see the below photographs.
A few minor tears are present on the port side rubbing strip. The swim platform minor paint repairs remain to be done.
Please see the below photographs.
Starboard Side Cradle:
No actions have been taken with this cradle, it is considered to be substantial in it’s construction and shows no signs of cracking or other potential incident related problems. The cradle appears to be in good structural and aesthetic condition.
Please see the below photographs.
NOTE:
Given the fact the Yachts tenders have been severly water damaged during the Atlantic crossing, albeit they have been rebuilt by LB tenders in La Ciotat, it is concluded they are not in the exact same condition whitnessed in St Marten during the first survey. The fact is the tender engines & eletronics have been submerged and rebuilt which may lead to future problem that are not foreseable at this stage.
Neither tender was sea trialled during this inspection as no significant mechanical works have been undertaken. This report should be read in conjunction with the other previously issued reports by Arrow Services Monaco and subject to the web - viewer disclaimer.
