Progress report on metal works on San Lorenzo 44m, project 157.

Location: Massa, Italy

  • Hull

The project is scheduled to stay in this facility until December once all hot works are completed.  She will then be relocated to the paint and outfitting stages at San Lorenzo’s main facility in La Spezia.

Structural tank testing is still underway overseen by the classification society.

  • Main engine and Gearbox installations

The 2 MTU 16V2000 main engines and 2 ZF 5350 reduction gearboxes are next to the yacht. They are ready for embarkation into the engine room onto their permanent basements.

The below equipment will be lifted in through the main deck hatch in the adjacent image. The main deck hatch will then be welded shut. Once this process is complete, the superstructure can be installed above the engine room.

The remainder of the engine room equipment will be embarked via the beach club openings and through an access hatch into the engine room.

  • Superstructure

Now that the hull blocks are all welded into place, the superstructure is being constructed and lifted into position in sections.

Adjacent is the engine room opening previously described, the superstructure viewed from aft is the main deck pantry and owner's lobby.

  • Main deck superstructure preparations

Main deck salon section being fabricated upside down on the shed floor.

Owners' suite main deck structure fabrication has begun, again upside down on the shed floor.

  • Floors and Dunnage

In addition to the engine room machinery foundations, floor frames and dunnage are being installed to house the floor plates and auxiliary equipment.

Lower deck guest and crew cabins, floor frames, and floor plates are being installed.

  • Pre-outfitting

Pre-outfitting has begun, this includes structural extraction and cable trays.

In the coming weeks, the longest cables will be run on the lower deck and insulation material will be installed on the ceilings.
