FINAL REPORT

GENERAL COMMENTS

Up until now, the involvement of the crew has been limited in terms of the amount of time allocated by Sanlorenzo, in which to teach and demonstrate all the various and extensive systems onboard.  Although the basic operations have been verified, this has always been under the direction of the builder. The crew are now able to operate the various systems and equipment. However, more questions and adjustments are going to be required.

This is likely part of the more operational planning side of the equation onboard, to give the crew adequate time to use and shake down test all the various Yacht’s systems.  It’s recommended that as much time be allocated as possible, within the confines of the vessel management and schedules to achieve this prior to departing for Asia.

SUN DECK AREA

The sun deck areas are completed in terms of outfitting. Open and pending items remaining including the spot lights (all decks) for the external protruding parts to be replaced for larger versions to conceal the holes in the overheads. Some realignment of the overheads will need to be carried out once the Yacht has been to sea and the structures mounts have been allowed to move somewhat.

The life raft installation has been partially completed.  Straps remain to be fully fitted and the block & tackle arrangements along with instructions for use remain to be delivered - with training to the crew.

All the dumbwaiter functions have been tested and are working.

The team Italia console has some open painting points; these will need to be verified.  The folding mechanism currently seems to contact with the horizontal sections of the folding lid. If this continues to be the case after painting, then the lid itself will need to be modified to avoid further damage and contact points with the paint.

As part of the larger scale of painting works, there are various areas which require works on both metallic black and matt black roll bar areas etc.

One larger scope of works is the impending alterations to the VSAT antennas and AVIT works.  The scope of works is well defined and only the finer details remain along with scheduling. The management team will work with the Captain to see it installed. Technical support from our side can be provided as needed.

UPPER DECK

External:

Aside from the painting works, there is not much to report.  Some alignment and fixing of the forward handrail sections needs to be carried out.  Some monitor details of the aft awning system blanks need to be provided. As for most of the Yacht, some minor deck decking work remains, but mostly small sections or details.  The reports are being managed by the First Officer so no handover of information is needed in this respect.

There are a number of small items in the mooring area, equipment locations and storage areas yet to be decided and defined by both the crew the yard.  We expect, once the first officer gets to grips with what and how to store equipment, there may be some input needed from the yard to help fit/install some more fixing points etc. This should be anticipated and not necessarily at their cost, so the swill needs to be managed.

Proper use and management of the rescue tender and jet ski, including their safe operation and emergency use will be carried out once the crew have time.  No doubt that once onboard, and the crew manage to fully use and test these systems, there may well be some alterations needed to straps/fittings.

Team Italia - these are the providers of the iBridge navigation and control systems for all of the equipment relating to charts, navigation and communication.  They are stood by to receive notice from the yard as to when they can attend to spend time with the Captain and First Officer to run through and demonstrate its entire setup and functionality. They can contact directly through the yard or support@team-italia.it. This email should be retained for longer term support.

Internal:

All defects from here in are being fully managed by the Chief Stewardess. A full list of reports is being transmitted to her, although she has been instrumental in generating them in the first place.  The transfer link was shared 09/10/2020 as part of the integral documents forming the protocol of delivery.

MAIN DECK

External:

Teak decks, overhead lighting, glass caulking and paint work rectifications remain to be carried out in many places, for the most part these are not large scale.  Di-Bond material repairs need to be carried out in the forward port side main deck compartment.  All of which are covered in the construction log.  The loose furniture remains to be secured for sea. The Chief Stewardess is working to get this done.

Aside from this there is nothing to report.

Internal:

As per the internal reports, various on-going works remain. The most significant is of the discussed marble replacements.  That is also connecting with the main deck saloon and the Owner’s bathroom.  Nothing else to report.

LOWER DECK

Relating to the crew area, aside from the repeated points ongoing with minor defects, the crew flooring needs to be discussed and decided.  We have a contingent amount in the construction log to cover this item. However, once in use, the crew may find a solution.  We believe it to be too slippery for a working area, that generally goes for the rally and the black flooring in general.  Aside from the boarders being needed around the deck access hatches, the flooring may need a full replacement.  The reaming items are covered in the construction log.

The four guest cabin bathrooms marble is to be removed and replaced.

The AVIT works will conclude in this lower deck area depending on 24/7 requirements for equipment in the local racks.

TECHNICAL - ENGINEERING GENERAL

The agreed works will continue.  Likely one of the largest tasks faced by the engineering team is one of general cleanliness.  It could take a long time to get thoroughly clean.  However, this is quite standard for this builder.  It will just require a systematic process of inspections and to get on top of it all, it might be worth having some day works to do this, allowing the team to focus their efforts to the actually running and operations of the equipment rather than cleaning.  Doing this in the coming weeks prior to the vessel’s departure would be great help moving forward. This subject shouldn’t be forgotten or pushed to one side.  Steal parts, metal shavings, tools and other sources of contaminate are definitely present and will be detrimental.

Many items and issues will arise as a direct result of the using the equipment onboard.  The crew should take great care to document these and add them as a continuation of the construction log.  We would recommend that this is managed by one person and one person alone.  Of course, information relating to the various department heads needs to be written, but the input and transmission of this document to the yard will be critical in getting the most out of them.  It should be noted how frequently this document is required to be transmitted. Some yard managers have a close eye on timings and when problems are flagged.  It normally is a requirement to disclose any points to the builder upon finding them. The re-transmission of the log doesn’t need to be done for each new litem, but at the end of the week, or if something of significant importance is found.

Over the last months, the Chief Engineer has been collecting contact details for various companies. Just note that the claims are normally managed through the yard, so they will need to be kept in the information loop of anything significant.

It’s likely that Simpson Marine will be the warranty managers for the Asia/Pacific region.  A handover from the shipyard to them should be affected during the time of the crossing.  It is going to be extremely helpful to establish the process/mechanism of understanding prior to the Yacht’s departure.
