Progress Report #16 | February 2023

PAINT WORKS

Now Arionas has been in direct sunlight, the starboard side hull that receives the most exposure is being affected by some blisters and blemishes.

Amico shipyards paint team and Wrede paint consultants who are working on behalf of the owner's team have independently come to the same conclusion, the imperfections are due to delamination within the existing paint layers.

The recommendation is not to complete any destructive inspections at this stage, the coatings should be allowed further exposure to see the extent of the issue. It is to everyone's interest now to launch Arionas to keep the hull cool, as soon as all parties are happy that progress allows. Any further delays with launching may require a protective tent to be constructed to protect the hull from direct sunlight before the launch.

Wrede consultants have completed a final paint survey of the entire yacht. A list of small defects and imperfections were supplied to the shipyard. The majority have already been resolved, the remainder are currently underway.

E - MOTION

The long-awaited generator sound enclosures have finally arrived at E motion and are scheduled to arrive at Amico shipyard on the 3rd of March. E motion technicians are scheduled to be onboard 06th of March

The E-motion scope of works are to complete the sound enclosure installations and the generators internal wiring, exhaust and pipework. Once this is completed, Amico can complete their connections to the generators so we can move onto commissioning stages.

Emotion batteries modules are currently under testing and RINA approval. We are underway with the battery box and foundation designs. The battery box design will only be finalised upon receiving the final approval of the battery modules.

ENGINEERING

The 3 generator exhausts installations are underway, Alignment concerns have been reported to Amico and will be resolved upon completion of the final installation.

The 9 SCR electrical control boxes have been mounted on custom made brackets,  the shipyards electricians are currently underway with their side of the installation.

The Fuel system is now complete as far as possible prior to the generator sound enclosure completion.

Pipework and cable runs continue.

The aluminium floor plates are under construction.

TANKS

Once local welding and pipework's were completed surrounding the tanks, the final tank cleaning was completed.

Upon final inspection it was found that further works were necessary to have the tanks ready for operational use.

The fuel oil tanks required some local grinding works to remove some loose paint layers, they were then oiled to prevent surface corrosion prior to bunkering fuel. Final inspection revealed a few areas that required further cleaning before a final test can be completed during the month of March.

Black and grey water tank, during pressure testing a small hole was found. This was created during the shaft tunnel welding works. The tank was repaired and retested in the presence or RINA. The tank now holds pressure, some small paint touch ups are required before we can seal this tank. Top image is of the tank repair, taken from inside the tank.

Fresh water tank. The cleaning and paint touch up process was not successful in creating a strong surface, it was necessary to prepare and repaint the tanks. No sand blasting was completed, the coating was applied on top of the old coating that was sanded and prepared.

The new tank sensors are installed, the electricians are underway with connecting them to the new alarm and monitoring system.

DECK WORKS

The davit gearboxes have been re installed and the hydraulic installation is underway.

Steel works are almost complete on the bridge deck awning structures and handrails. The alterations were due to match the new teak deck profile.

The stern  gangway has been re installed and tested as operational. The step covers will soon be refitted.

Crew works continue with refitting the deck hardware, protection in the interior areas are being removed in completed areas to start getting the yacht ready for the summer season.
