Report #002 - 13 January 2022

December has seen a tremendous amount of progress onboard from the shipyard and the crew in all areas of the project.

The removal of machinery in the Engine Room by the shipyard progressed well with the opening of the access hole in the STBD side hull, allowing the removal of 2 x Main Engines, 2 x Generator units, and the required ancillary machinery from the space. This has given better access to the bilge, internal hull sides and Bulkheads for inspection and further review for the new Engine Room layout to be designed.

In the Engine Room Crew have further removed various piping and valves from systems that are to be cleaned, stripped down, repaired and rebuilt for installation back into place.

Fuel, Water, and Black Water tanks are nearing completion of being professional cleaned and will then be inspected by the Classification Society for their remarks regarding any remedial works that may be required in each tank.

Externally, works are ongoing with the removal of the Teak Deck on the Upper Deck. This is scheduled to be completed in January and ready for the next phase of cleaning of the steel substructure for inspection and repair as required.

The team of painters are onboard and progressing with preparing the surface in all areas. The Crew are assisting with the removal of hand rails, stairs, and deck fittings to allow the painters a clear area for a better paint finish.

Crew are working on the removal of the caprail varnish back to bare wood for sanding and the removal of the caulking around the caprails.

Confirmation of Asbestos onboard inside the Engine Room and funnel ventilation trunking by an external contractor. This is not to be touched or removed and will be encased inside an approved protective layer.

Interior has been protected in areas that gives access to the tanks and crew areas.
